The Walsh 3 was the least sensitive of the second generation Walsh speakers. In its compact cabinet, just slightly bigger than the Walsh 2, it had deeper bass and higher treble than even the Walsh 4 (but in small to medium sized rooms only). We used real wood veneer cabinets with an Ohm logo on the upper corner and a Walsh 3 logo next to it on the next side. There were 3 controls on the bottom, one to match the bass response to your room size (down for very small rooms, up for medium rooms and in the middle for small sized rooms.) The third control was for perspective.
The speakers should be set up so the Ohm logo is on the front of the left speaker and the Walsh 3 logo on the front of the right speaker. Placed 6 to 8 feet apart and about 1 foot from the wall give the smoothest bass and best imaging.
The driver can be upgraded to the new Walsh 2000 or the Walsh 3000 which allows for the bass to be extended down and the treble to have wider dispersion. Both upgrades sound the same, but the 3000 can fill rooms twice a large as the 2000. All necessary parts can be installed with a screwdriver and hot glue gun and takes only 20 minutes. The upgrade comes with a 3 Year Limited Parts & Labor Warranty, assuring you of years of listening pleasure. You also get a 60-Day Home Trial to be certain you are satisfied with these upgrades.
The Walsh 3010 upgrade is similar to the Walsh 3.3000 but with a 10" Xtreme Xcursion subwoofer in the bottom of the same cabinet, driven by a dedicated subwoofer amp with 500 Watts per channel. This is a 20/20K design, covering the full range of human hearing. It reproduces deeper bass and higher treble than the Walsh 3 (The highs are the same as the current 3000.) and plays much louder than the Walsh 3. This upgrade must be done at the factory, since it requires extensive modification to the cabinet, and comes in your choice of real wood veneers. You can still audition this upgrade with our 60-Day Home Trial and send back your speakers in the same packaging material we used to send you the new ones. All upgrades come with Ohm's 3-Year Limited Parts and Service Warrantee.
Note: Most Ohm upgrades require no specialized knowledge and are easily completed completed by any person. It takes less time to install your own upgrade than it does to package and return ship your speakers to the factory, therefore, we recommend you save time and money by doing this yourself. We ship the upgrade to your door with clear, easy instructions. If for any reason you prefer to have the factory complete your upgrade installation, we will be happy to do this for free, however, you will be responsible for shipping and handling costs each way.
Ohm allows up to $1195 for the return of a complete undamaged pair of Ohm 3s toward 25% of the purchase price of new Ohm speakers.
